Durable trousers in 100% cotton canvas for both men and women. These trousers are designed to emulate the style and fit of how such trousers were actually worn in the 19th century. Back then, trousers had a very high waist both front and back. The original design was a version of the overalls worn by miners. By removing the upper part of the overalls and creating a pair of trousers that could be worn with or without suspenders, the trousers became more versatile. However, the waist of these first "jeans" was still very high. The high waist was also practical for the cowboy, as it gave him access to the trouser pockets even when he was on horseback. The waistband sits higher than on other jeans. We recommend buying one size larger than you normally would due to the high waist.
